Banana Jack Murphy is a veteran radio personality and television host known for his engaging presence and commitment to the airwaves. Arriving on the Grand Strand in 1989, he quickly made his mark as a morning show host on WKZQ 101.7 FM under the mentorship of Tom Rogers, the former owner of Tiger Radio, WTGR. Despite changes in ownership, Banana Jack remained a constant fixture on WKZQ until 2001 when he transitioned to Wave 104.1 (WYAV), succeeding none other than prominent radio figure Howard Stern.
Throughout his career, Banana Jack's passion for broadcasting led him to new heights. In 2007, alongside his wife Barb Krumm, he ventured into entrepreneurship, founding the Banana Jack Murphy Productions LLC and acquiring WLSC AM 1240 in Loris. Their venture saw the construction of studios in downtown Loris, where Banana Jack has continued to captivate audiences as the morning show host since the fall of 2007.
Beyond the realm of radio, Banana Jack's influence extends to television. As the host of the daily program "River Talk with Jack Murphy," he brings insightful discussions and vibrant personalities to viewers. Airing on WWMB-CW 21 and HTC Cable Channel 4, "River Talk" has become a beloved staple for audiences seeking engaging content.
He's a familiar face on "Not The News," where he occasionally fills in for Greg Rowles on the nightly broadcast on WFXB-FOX TV.
With decades of experience and incredible dedication to his craft, Banana Jack Murphy continues to shape the landscape of broadcasting in the Grand Strand region, leaving an indelible mark on the airwaves and in the hearts of his listeners and viewers alike.
